It should
be viewed as a graphic element in its own
right and not as a piece of text.
The positions, proportions, size and colors
used in the San Marcos mark are part of the
execution of the brand, and they should not
be altered. Please do not attempt to replicate
the mark without access to the original
elements and specifications.
The custom font was derived from the
type Merge with several proprietary
modifications, including the "waterfall"
rendering of the letter "'M" It is favored for
its vibrant, picturesque yet contemporary
quality as well as for clarity.
To maintain consistency across the
varied applications of the brand, only the
illustrated configurations of the brand mark
should be used.
A lockup is a version of the mark that
incorporates the approved tagline, "We'd
love your company." —the invitation that
represents a call to action for a wide array
of audiences. As with the main logotype,
this tagline should be considered a graphic
element and not as text. Please do not render
the tagline in a different color or typeface.
When together in a lockup, the tagline and
logotype should be scaled proportionately, as
shown. Please maintain the relationship and
proportions of these elements.
The main San Marcos logotype can be used
without the tagline. Also, alternate lockups
have been developed for use by the City of
San Marcos' partner organizations, with their
names rendered in the same typeface and
style as the tagline. The same graphic
standards apply as for the preferred lockup.
When full color reproduction is unavailable or
undesirable, the mark should be rendered in
a single solid color, Since the interplay of the
three colors in the logotype is an essential
feature of the mark, rendering in black or
(reversed) white is preferable to rendering
in any one of the logos specified colors.
