Digitalizing the City of San Marcos cable channel will cause many local customers to <br />lose access to programming and services provided by the City on Time Warner Cable. <br />11. A group of Texas cities, led by the City of McAllen, has formed a Texas PEG <br />Coalition to oppose the plan by Time Warner to convert PEG channels to digital format. The <br />cost for the City of San Marcos to participate in this coalition will range from $2,500 to a <br />maximum of $10,000. <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS: <br />PART 1. That the City Council believes that access to government channels should <br />remain available to all of Time Warner subscribers in the interests of the health, safety and <br />welfare of the community and to promote public participation in government; <br />PART 2. That the City Council authorizes the City Manager to take necessary <br />actions, individually or jointly with other governmental entities with similar concerns, to assure <br />that access by San Marcos subscribers to Time Warner educational and government channels <br />remains uninterrupted on all service tiers and that the service is provided without any additional <br />cost to the subscriber or governmental entity. <br />PART 3.
