without passing the examination if he has a license from a reciprocating jurisdiction under <br />section 14.378 and five years or more experience in any of the above construction types or a <br />combination thereof, as a job foreman, job superintendent, or project manager in the commercial <br />building industry. <br />(c) Maintenance person. This designation applies to maintenance of existing buildings or <br />structures. A person applying for a property maintenance person registration shall pass the <br />required examination for this registration. <br />Sec. 14.374. Application for examination. <br />(a) Applications for license or registration examinations under this division will be made on a <br />form furnished by the building official. The application shall specify the applicant's experience <br />and shall state whether the applicant has ever been licensed as a contractor and, if so, when and <br />by what jurisdiction; whether a license held by the applicant has ever been suspended or <br />revoked; and whether the applicant has ever been refused a license and, if so, the date of and the <br />reason for suspension, revocation or refusal. <br />(b) To determine whether the applicant is eligible to take the examination, the building official <br />will review each application to determine whether the applicant meets the qualifications <br />described in section 14.373. An applicant who is denied eligibility by the building official may <br />submit a written appeal to the construction board of adjustments and appeals. The board will <br />hold a hearing and will make a final decision on the applicant's eligibility. <br />(c) An examination will be given to the applicant at the next regularly scheduled testing date. <br />Tests will be offered not less than four times per year. A passing grade of 70 percent is required. <br />If an applicant is unsuccessful in a second examination attempt, the applicant will not be <br />reexamined for a period of six months from the date of the second testing. No applicant will be <br />tested more than two times in any 12 -month period. <br />Sec. 14.375. Examination fees. <br />Payment of an examination fee to the test provider is required each time a contractor applies for <br />a license. <br />Sec. 14.376. Examination. <br />The Construction Board of Adjustments and Appeals, working in conjunction with the city staff, <br />may provide for testing of candidates for contractor's licenses through the use of ICC tests. <br />Sec. 14.377. Issuance, renewal of license or registration. <br />(a) Upon receiving a passing grade on the examination for a license or registration under this <br />division, the building official can issue a license or registration to the successful candidate. <br />(b) No license will be issued for more than one year. A license may be renewed from year to <br />year upon application of the holder. All licenses issued under this division expire on the last day <br />of December. <br />
