• RESOLUTION 2011 -4R <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN <br />MARCOS, TEXAS APPROVING AN EMERGENCY CONSTRUCTION <br />CONTRACT WITH AUSTIN UNDERGROUND, INC. FOR THE SESSOM <br />EMERGENCY WATER LINE RELOCATION PROJECT; RATIFYING <br />THE CITY MANAGER'S EXECUTION OF THE CONTRACT <br />DOCUMENTS ON BEHALF OF THE CITY; AND DECLARING AN <br />EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />1. On November 20, 2010 a 12" water main located on Sessom Drive ruptured and a <br />temporary repair was made at the time to place the main back in service. <br />2. Because the temporary solution left the pipe exposed within the storm drain <br />culvert, a more permanent solution was required. City staff contacted Austin Underground, Inc. <br />due to its qualifications, availability and experience on this roadway to make the repair on an <br />emergency basis due to unforeseen damage to property without formal competitive bidding in <br />order to protect the public health and safety of the City's residents. <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, <br />• TEXAS: <br />PART 1. The award of an emergency construction contract to Austin Underground, <br />Inc. for the Sessom Emergency Water Line Relocation Project in the amount of $52,870.00 is <br />approved. <br />PART 2. The City Manager, James R. Nuse's, execution of the contract documents <br />on behalf of the City is ratified. <br />PART 3.
