, <br />4.2 The term of this agreement shall begin on the first day of the 2010 -2011 school year and <br />end on June 6, 2011. This agreement cannot be changed, terminated or modified in any manner, <br />other than as provided in the provisions herein outlined in this agreement. <br />SERVICES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: <br />5.1 Services provided to the District under this agreement shall be provided by an officer or <br />officers employed by the San Marcos Police Department. Such officers shall remain under the <br />control and supervision of the City at all times and shall remain City employees, entitled to the <br />same benefits and subject to the same restrictions as any other city officer. Such officers shall <br />generally wear their San Marcos City Police Officer's uniform and equipment while providing <br />services under this agreement. <br />5.2 Services to be performed include, but are not limited to the following: <br />1. Maintain high visibility at campuses. <br />2. Assist in security efforts at their designated school. <br />3. Give classroom presentations to students on topics such as; dealing with personal <br />safety, peer pressure, crisis management, chemical abuse, sexual abuse, <br />molestation prevention, Texas Penal Code, local government rules and <br />regulations, and ordinances that affect students, Texas Family Code, Texas <br />Education Code, conflict resolution and gang alternatives. <br />4. Coordinate communication between the designated school and the Police <br />Department. <br />5. Assist in development of a long -term plan for campus safety incorporating input <br />from parents, students and teachers. <br />6. Assist with traffic control when necessary. <br />7. Address incidents that require law enforcement intervention on campus, including <br />the issuance of citations, investigations of an accident, or the removal of a student <br />and inform the campus principal of such intervention <br />8. Discuss law enforcement career opportunities with any student. <br />9. Provide security for special school events or functions (such as home athletic <br />events) at the request of the principal, and subject to officer availability, by <br />"flexing -out" the required time from the instructional day. <br />5.3 Access to Student Information <br />Access to personally - identifiable student information is available to the SROs in <br />accordance with SMCISD district policy FL (Legal) and (Local), which generally permits <br />access to directory information or to other student information in an emergency in order <br />to protect the student's or other person's health and safety. <br />
