C7 <br />RESOLUTION 2011 -32R <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN <br />MARCOS, TEXAS, APPROVING THE CITY COUNCIL'S STRATEGIC <br />INITIATIVES AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, <br />TEXAS: <br />PART 1. The following Strategic Initiatives are hereby adopted: <br />• <br />1. Sound Finances: The City Council discussed the need to look at a variety of approaches to <br />move in the direction of fiscal sustainability. As the most emphasized issue, this strategic <br />initiative is an umbrella over all others. <br />2. Customer Friendly Processes: In order to attract and retain business in support of the fiscal <br />sustainability and community quality of life, it is important to attract a wide range of business <br />interests to expand job base and be competitive in a highly competitive economic development <br />effort, and in addition cultivate a culture of customer friendliness throughout the entire city <br />organization. <br />3. Big Picture Infrastructure: Long -term strategic plan to assure that the City has a highly <br />functional infrastructure. <br />4. Maintain and Protect San Marcos River: The San Marcos River is the character center of <br />San Marcos. It has ecological, environmental, recreation, economic and social significance for <br />the community. The basic truth is we must take care of the River. <br />5. Community Wellness/ Strengthen the Middle Class: Reinforce the importance of local <br />creativity, historic preservation, livable wage jobs, and overall health & wellness for our <br />citizens.
