The Council adjourned into Executive Session at 6:01 <br />p.m. <br /> <br />Mayor Narvaiz announced the Council would reconvene at 7:00 p.m. <br /> <br />Mayor Narvaiz introduced for consideration adoption or direction to Staff <br />on matters discussed in Executive Session. Mr. O'Leary stated the Council <br />provided direction for the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce contracts regarding <br />the economic and tourism development. He stated the Council also gave <br />direction to Staff regarding a downtown project. <br /> <br />Mayor Narvaiz introduced the Pledge of Allegiance, which was lead by the <br />San Marcos Consolidated Independent School District Teachers of the Year. <br /> <br />Mayor Narvaiz introduced the 30-Minute Citizen Comment. 1) Dianne Wassenich <br />stated she wished to speak on Item 29, a discussion regarding legislative <br />issues. She stated she feels Senate Bill 1858 is the worst Bill for San <br />Marcos water quality. She stated if this Bill is adopted, it will not <br />allow the City to have water quality authority. She encouraged the Council <br />to contact Representatives to help slow this Bill down. She stated she <br />supports the Council regulating parking in yards. She stated she feels <br />parking in front yards harms property values. 2) Sherri Bilson thanked <br />Council Member Taylor for helping with the Castle Forest Neighborhood <br />Cleanup on May 14, 2005. She also encouraged the Council to change their <br />Regular Meeting scheduled for August 2, 2005, to another date. She stated <br />this would allow participation in the Neighborhood National Night Out. <br /> <br />Mayor Narvaiz introduced the Staff Report. 1) Mr. O'Leary stated there <br />will be a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for the Rio Vista Swimming Pool on May <br />28, 2005, at 9:30 a.m. 2) Mr. O'Leary stated on Saturday, May 21, 2005, <br />there will be several events in San Marcos: Special Olympics, Texas Natural <br />Western Swing Festival, Welcome Home Troops Ceremony and the Commemorative <br />Air Show. <br /> <br />Mayor Narvaiz introduced the City Council Reports. 1) Mr. Taylor stated he <br />participated in the Castle Forest Neighborhood Cleanup on Saturday, May 14, <br />2005. He also thanked the City Staff who participated in the Cleanup. 2) <br />Mr. Thomaides stated he attended the Austin-San Antonio Corridor Meeting <br />last week. 3) Mayor Narvaiz stated she attended the rededication of <br />Prospect Park. She stated the Greenbelt Alliance is hoping to soon host a <br />Mayor's Walk, and has requested an evening walk. 4) Mayor Narvaiz stated <br />she attended the NAFTA Conference in San Pedro, Nuevo Leon, Mexico. She <br />stated it was an honor to be there. She provided the Council with a <br />written summary report of the Conference. <br /> <br />Mayor Narvaiz introduced for consideration approval of minutes of the <br />Regular Meeting held May 3, 2005, adoption of two Ordinances on third and <br />
