This request is in recognition of the mutual benefit both parties will receive
in protecting our drinking water quality for both the City and University populations. The study will help ensure
we prevent future degradation of our water supply as development occurs in the recharge areas.
The City is willing to fund the actual work in an approximate amount of $36,000 but would find the additional
amount difficult to obtain. The City of San Marcos and Texas State University have long standing contracts
which have benefitted both parties for many years to provide analytical services relating to our water system
operation. This waiver would allow this important work to proceed and help us understand the pre -
development condition of the Edwards Aquifer water in that area.
I thank you for your prompt consideration of this request.
Sincerely,
Thomas P.
