<br />61 . <br />Regular Meeting <br /> <br />July 5, 2005 <br /> <br />Page 2 <br /> <br />Mayor Narvaiz announced the Council would reconvene at 6:41 p.m. <br /> <br />Mayor Narvaiz introduced for consideration adoption or direction to Staff <br />on matters discussed in Executive Session. Mr. O'Leary stated the Council <br />discussed IH35/McCarty Lane area and provided direction. He stated the <br />Council also discussed economic development services and provided <br />direction. He stated the Council also provided direction regarding <br />anInternet/advertising contract. <br /> <br />Mayor Narvaiz introduced the Pledge of Allegiance, which was lead by Parks <br />and Recreation Department Lifeguards and the Summer Fun staff. <br /> <br />Mayor Narvaiz introduced the 30-Minute Citizen Comment. No speakers signed <br />up to speak during the Citizen Comment Period. <br /> <br />Mayor Narvaiz introduced the Staff Report. Mr. O'Leary stated he did not <br />have a Staff report for this meeting. <br /> <br />Mayor Narvaiz introduced the City Council Reports. 1) Mr. Bose stated he <br />attended the Summerfest activities on July 4th and enjoyed all the events. <br />2) Mr. Guerrero thanked Parks and Recreation Department for their hard <br />work, San Marcos Performing Arts Association and Arts Commission for the <br />music in the park during the July 4th activities. 3) Mayor Narvaiz provided <br />the Council with a report of her activities during June 22, 2005 to July 4, <br />2005. 4) Mayor Narvaiz thanked Pat Murdock, Phil Neighbors and Jimmy <br />Johnson for their hard work with the Summerfest activities. 4} Mayor <br />Narvaiz stated there was an incident this weekend at the San Marcos River, <br />which lead to the arrest of Dave Newman. Mayor Narvaiz thanked everyone who <br />was involved in the rescue. She stated she also feels when someone needs <br />to be rescued citizens need to move aside and let those individuals who are <br />trained in this field do their job. She stated it is unfortunate that the <br />media seems to be focusing on the arrest instead of the heroic efforts of <br />everyone involved. <br /> <br />Mayor Narvaiz introduced for consideration approval of minutes of the <br />Regular Meeting held June 21, 2005, approval of three Ordinances on second <br />reading, adoption of three Ordinances on third and final reading, adoption <br />of six Resolutions, approval of Change in Service Request #1 in the amount <br />of $30,574.33 with Dannenbaum Engineering for the Pass Through Toll <br />Agreement, approval of expenditure from General Fund contingency in the <br />amount of $8,697.00 to replace supplies expended during recent emergencies, <br />and approval of expenditure from General Fund contingency in the amount of <br />$10,000.00 to remove vegetation mats in the San Marcos River, on consent. <br />The Council removed Items 18 and 20, adoption of Resolutions, Item 22, <br />approval of Change in Service Request #1 in the amount of $30,574.33 with <br />Dannenbaum Engineering for the Pass Through Toll Agreement, Item 23, <br />approval of expenditure from General Fund contingency in the amount of <br />
