San Marcos Floodplain Management Plan: A Sustainable Future for Floodplain Management
Application for Flood Protection Study Grant

14. Identify potential sources and amounts of funding available for implementation of
viable flood protection measure resulting from proposed planning.

If the project is funded, the City of San Marcos can draw from various funding sources in
its budget. The City's Drainage Utility and Capital Improvements Program has been in
place for five years, and generates a minimmn of $1,000,000 annually.

The City is also a Federal entitlement community and receives Community Development
Block Grant money for community development projects. These funds can be used to
implement flood protection measures, particularly given the disproportionate impact of
flooding risk to low-income residents.

M"\a&tiveI04P012 San Marcos M.D.PIGroot Applic-8Ma.d/fxhiMt A, Page 10

December 16, 2004
