Through these strategies, the signatories intend that regional air quality will <br />remain in attainment of the I-hour ozone standard and have the additional health benefits <br />envisioned under the 8-hour standard. The signatories recognize that the 03 Flex <br />Agreement does not preclude the AJSM MSA being designated as nonattainment under <br />the 8-hour standard at some future point. <br /> <br />The specific objectives of the AJSM MSA 03 Flex Plan are to: <br /> <br />· Provide long-term maintenance ofthe I-hour ozone standard <br /> <br />· Provide health benefits envisioned under the 8-hour ozone standard <br /> <br />The signatories and participants of the AJSM MSA 03 Flex Plan commit to: <br /> <br />· Implement, to the extent practicable, emission reduction measures for the 2002 ozone <br />season and no later than the 2003 ozone season. These measures will reflect the <br />circumstances and resources of the individual signatory entities and other <br />participants. <br /> <br />· Continue to conduct air quality monitoring and air dispersion or photochemical <br />modeling. <br /> <br />· Evaluate additional emission reduction measures based on updated photochemical <br />modeling and technical analysis programs. <br /> <br />6 <br />
