<br /> <br /> <br />7 . <br /> <br />ORDINANCE NO. 2002- 19 <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, AMENDING SECTIONS 2.231 AND <br />2.232 OF THE CITY CODE TO CHANGE THE <br />COMPOSITION OF THE HUMAN SERVICES ADVISORY <br />BOARD; AND INCLUDING PROCEDURAL PROVISIONS. <br /> <br />RECITALS: <br /> <br />1. The Human Services Advisory Board consists of seven members, one of which must <br />be a person with a degree in social work. <br /> <br />2. Because persons meeting this degree qualification often work for agencies that apply <br />to the board for City funding, the Council wishes to change the person meeting the qualification <br />to be an eighth, non-voting member of the board. <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, <br />TEXAS: <br /> <br />SECTION 1. Sections 2.231 and 2.232 of the City Code are amended as follows <br />(underlining indicates added text; Q'.'~rKtrik~ indicates deleted text): <br /> <br />Sec. 2.231. Established; appointment of members; organization. <br /> <br />(a) There is established the human services advisory board. The board consists of eight <br />~ citizens of the city, appointed by the city council. Seven members will be voting <br />members, and the eighth.'\1: l~agt QR~ member will be a non-voting member, and will be <br />a person with a degree in social work with experience in social service administration. <br />All members will be committed to the development and enhancement of human services <br />in the city. Members are appointed to two-year staggered terms, with four ~ of them <br />expiring September 30 of odd-numbered years and with four of them expiring September <br />30 of even-numbered years. <br /> <br />(b) The board will annually, at its first meeting after September 30, elect a chairperson <br />and vice-chairperson. The board may elect other officers and form committees as it may <br />determine is necessary for the proper performance of its duties. <br /> <br />Sec. 2.232. Rules and regulations. <br /> <br />The human services advisory board will adopt rules and regulations as it deems best to <br />govern its actions subject to city, state and national laws.
