14) Prepare an animation of the Project with three design/aesthetic options: Standard
TxDOT Bridge and two other options that the Engineer will develop in coordination
with City staff. The animation will include:
a) A model of existing conditions;
b) An aerial visual impact study; and
c) A fly through 3- dimensional model of the Project for each option with pavement
markings and blended into existing aerials; and
1.2.2 Geotechnical Investigation and Report
1) Field Program
a) Supervise drilling activities and collect test samples utilizing either thin - walled
tube samplers (Shelby tubes) or the standard penetration test. In accordance with
TxDOT procedures, perform a TxDOT Cone Penetrometer test at approximately
five -foot depth intervals in the borings. When rock is encountered, the Engineer
will advance the borings using Nx coring equipment. Once the Engineer has
collected and classified the samples in the field, the Engineer will properly
prepare and place the samples in appropriate sample containers for transport to the
Engineer's laboratory.
b) Upon completion of the borings, backfill the boreholes using excess soil cuttings
and /or bentonite chips, patched with quickrete or cold -patch asphalt. The
Engineer will approximate the borings using field personnel based on preliminary
plans and available site features. The Engineer will perform a majority of the
planned borings within existing roadways and these borings will require
maintenance of the affected traffic area.
c) As a precaution, notify the Texas One -Call system to locate underground utilities
within public right -of -ways and easements at the Project site. Borings will be
performed by the Engineer as follows:
Location
No. of Borings
Boring Depths
Total Drilling Footage
Loop 82 Soil Survey
14
10 feet
140 LF
Retaining Wall Foundation
8 @ 15 feet
Investigation
10
2 @30 feet
180 LF
Bridge Foundation
Investigation
6
60 feet
360 LF
2) Laboratory Testing Review the sample classifications and assign a laboratory- testing
program, which will be specific to the Project requirements, the subsurface
conditions, and in accordance with TxDOT standards.
