Hold discussion retarding the creation of a Homeowners' Improvement Discount <br />Partnership with local home improvement retailers. <br />Stephanie Reyes, Assistant to the City Manager, provided a brief presentation to the City Council <br />regarding the creation of a Homeowner's Improvement Discount Partnership with local home <br />improvement retailers. Mrs. Reyes reported that so far McCoy's was willing to offer a $20 off of <br />a $100 or more purchase, Tuttle Lumber Company is offering 10% off any non -sale hardware <br />items with proof of a valid City permit, and Lowes is currently working through their corporate <br />processes. Council Member Jones requested that the original form/email requesting the agenda <br />item be provided to the Council by staff. Following the presentation Council directed staff to <br />move forward with the program as presented and bring back a resolution to formalize the <br />program, as well as, data regarding the waiving of permit fees to include the cost of service <br />incurred by the City. Council also directed staff to bring back a discussion item on a future <br />agenda to discuss the potential waiver of permit fees before the program is formally rolled out in <br />full. <br />27. Discussion and direction to staff concerning proposed Junk Vehicle Ordinance <br />amendment from Planet K. <br />• This discussion item was requested by Council Members Prather and Scott. Planet K is <br />circulating a petition to have the Council to either adopt an ordinance to provide exceptions to <br />the junked vehicle ordinance without an election or place an ordinance on the ballot for the <br />voters to adopt. City Attorney, Michael Cosentino, provided the Council with the history of the <br />removal and litigation regarding Planet K's vehicle. Following discussion the City Council <br />directed staff to do nothing at this time and allow Planet K to continue with the petition process <br />to place the ordinance on the ballot for election. <br />28.Ouestion and Answer Session with Press and Public. This is an opportunity for the Press <br />and Public to ask auestions related to items on this agenda. <br />None <br />29.Adiournment. <br />MOTION: Upon a motion made by Council Member Terry and a second by Council <br />Member Scott, the City Council voted seven (7) for and none (0) opposed, to adjourn the <br />regular meeting of the San Marcos City Council at 9:54 p.m. on Tuesday, May 17, 2011.
