1.2.6 Attend a minimum of2 meetings with the Texas Department of Transportation ("TxDOT")
for coordination of the proposed improvements and for obtaining preliminary review comments.
Any proposed signalization improvements will be completed by TxDOT.

Geotechnical Investigation

1.2.7 Perform a geotechnical investigation to explore the subsurface soil conditions in the general
areas of new pavement construction and field and laboratory testing to aid in characterizing soil
conditions. The Engineer will use this information to provide a pavement section thickness design.
In addition, Engineer will obtain and analyze information regarding the existing pavement and base
course thickness and will provide recommendations for overlay as required.

1.2.8 Drill five exploratory test borings to a depth of 5 feet within the road right-of-way. Borings
will be terminated by the Engineer if rock is encountered prior to achieving a depth of five feet.
Engineer will sample subsurface soil continuously from the ground surface to a depth of five feet
below grade.

1.2.9 Coordinate underground utility locating services through "One-Call" and obtain the necessary
permits and traffic control for drilling with the roadway.

1.2.10 Perform laboratory tests on soil samples obtained from the field exploration to include;
unconfined compression tests, Atterberg limit tests, moisture content tests, grain size analyses, and
California Bearing Ratio tests. In addition, these soil tests will be classified by a qualified
Geotechnical engineer in accordance with the Unified Soil Classification System.

1.2.11 Present results of the field and laboratory studies in a formal report that will include a site
plan, boring logs and test results. The Engineer will perform engineering analyses and include the
following in the Geotechnical report:

a) A summary of the existing site conditions;
b) A discussion of subsurface conditions at the boring locations;
c) Pavement section thickness design recommendations based on the City of Austin Street
Design Regulations; and,
d) Subgrade preparation and earthwork recommendations.

u.s. Fish and Wildlife Service Coordination

1.2.12 Attend one project kick-off meeting at the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service office in Austin
to discuss and describe the proposed project improvements.

1.2.13 Attend one initial consultation follow-up meeting with U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and
the City at the project site.

Loop 82-Sessom Drive.wpd

3
