<br />134. <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2002---1.38_R <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN <br />MARCOS, TEXAS APPROVING A GRANT APPLICATION TO THE <br />OFFICE OF THE GOVERNOR, CRIMINAL JUSTICE DIVISION, <br />TEXAS NARCOTICS CONTROL PROGRAM, FOR THE <br />ADV ANCED LAW ENFORCEMENT RAPID RESPONSE TRAINING <br />PROJECT; AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />RECITALS: <br /> <br />1. The City Council of the City of San Marcos finds it in the best interest of citizens of San Marcos <br />that the Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training (ALERRT) Project (the Project) be <br />operated for the 2002-2003 year. <br /> <br />2. The City Council of the City of San Marcos has considered the proposed application for State and <br />Federal Assistance for the Project, in the amoupt 0f $625,000 to be submitted to the Office of the <br />Governor, Criminal Justice Division, Texas Narcotic:: Control Program. <br /> <br />3. The City of San Marcos has agreed to provide matching moneys for the Project in the amount of <br />$125,000, or an amount equal to one-fourth of the total project cost, as required by the grant <br />application. <br /> <br />4. The City Council of the City of San Marcos has agreed in the event of loss or misuse of Criminal <br />Justice Division funds, City of San Marcos City Council assures that the funds will be returned to the <br />Criminal Justice Division in full. <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN <br />MARCOS, TEXAS: <br /> <br />P ART 1. The City of San Marcos City Council approves submission of the attached grant application <br />for the Project to the Office of the Governor, Criminal Justice Division, Texas Narcotics Control <br />Program in the amount of $625,000. <br /> <br />PART 2. The Interim City Manager, Dan O'Leary, is authorized to execute the attached grant <br />application, and grant agreement documents with the Office of the Governor, Criminal Justice <br />Division, Texas Narcotics Control Program, on behalf of the City of San Marcos. <br /> <br />P ART 3. That portion of the resolution adopted by the City Council on May 20, 2002 authorizing the <br />City to participate in the Project with respect to a grant to Southwest Texas State University from the <br />Office of the Governor, Criminal Justice Division, Texas Narcotics Control Program, is superseded by <br />this resolution. <br /> <br />PART 4.
