<br />Handler means any person having immediate responsibility for or control of an animal. <br /> <br />Kennel means any facility used for the business of boarding, breeding or training dogs or cats for <br />a fee. <br /> <br />Livestock includes horses, mules, donkeys, cattle, sheep, goats, swine, except miniature swine, <br />and all similar domestic animals, whether kept for use or pleasure. <br /> <br />Miniature swine means any swine that has been bred to attain a maximum shoulder height of 18 <br />inches and a maximum weight of 90 pounds. <br /> <br />Owner means any person who owns or has responsibility for the care and control of an animal. <br />A person is deemed to be the owner of an animal if the person feeds or shelters the animal for <br />three consecutive days or more, or if the animal apparently resides at the person's a-residence or <br />business on three separate days. <br /> <br />Pet means any domestic animal kept for pleasure rather than utility. <br /> <br />Pet shop means any place or facility used for the business of buying, selling or trading pets. <br /> <br />Public nuisance animal means any animal that exhibits one or more of the following <br />characteristics: <br /> <br />(1) Threatens, chases or attacks passing persons or vehicles. <br /> <br />(2) Attacks other animals. <br /> <br />(3) Trespasses on school grounds. <br /> <br />(4) Is repeatedly loose or unrestrained. <br /> <br />(5) Damages private or public property. <br /> <br />(6) Barks, whines, howls or otherwise creates noise in an excessive, continuous or untimely <br />fashion. <br /> <br />Quarantine means strict confinement, for the purpose of preventing the spread of disease, within <br />a closed cage, isolation kennel, rabies chamber or in any other manner approved by the local <br />h:ealthrabies control authority. <br /> <br />Rabies means an acute viral disease of persons and animals affecting the central nervous system, <br />usually transmitted by an animal bite or saliva. <br /> <br />Restraint means the securing of an animal by a leash or lead or by physical confinement <br /> <br />3 <br />
