• Linda Cherrington from the Texas Transportation Institute (TTI) presented a presentation on <br />results from the Task Force Phase 2 - Coordinated Bus System Study. The purpose of this <br />presentation was to provide insight into the impact of a new San Marcos -Kyle urbanized area <br />based on Census 2010, and the projected funding for public transportation in San Marcos. The <br />presentation provided a summary of the opportunities and challenges of a coordinated city - <br />university transit system. TTI advised Council on options the City may consider and the <br />decisions and actions required to be eligible to receive federal and state funding for public <br />transportation in a new urbanized area effective fiscal 2013. Council provided direction to hold <br />an additional Workshop to continue going through the data. <br />26. Hold discussion re ardin the current process for Citv Council requested agenda items <br />and provide direction to staff. <br />Following discussion the Council directed staff to bring additional suggestions on how to change <br />and direct City Manager regarding agenda items in the Ordinance. The City Manager is to use <br />discretion to determine further discussion on or pulling readily available information on agenda <br />item requests. <br />27. Staff update regaEding regarding the public smoking policv, and provide direction to staff. <br />Staff provided Council with an update regarding the public forum that was hosted on Monday, <br />July 18, 2011 and their plans for the upcoming public forum on Thursday, July 21, 2011. <br />• Council directed Staff to provide direction for the Legal Department to provide Council with a <br />variety of ballot language at the August 2, 2011 regular meeting. <br />28. Ouestion and Answer Session with Press and Public. This is an oonortunity for the <br />Press and Public to ask questions related to items on this agenda. <br />None. <br />29. Adiournment. <br />MOTION: Upon a motion made by Council Member Prather and a second by Council Member <br />Scott, the City Council voted seven (6) for and none (0) opposed, to adjourn the regular meeting <br />of the San Marcos City Council at 8:52 p.m. on Tuesday, July 19, 2011.
