<br />21. <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2001- 162 R <br />-,---- <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN <br />MARCOS, TEXAS, APPROVING A CONTRACT BETWEEN THE <br />CITY AND THE SAN MARCOS HISPANIC CHAMBER OF <br />COMMERCE FOR THE PROVISION OF TOURISM PROMOTIONAL <br />SERVICES DURING THE CITY'S 2001-2002 FISCAL YEAR; <br />AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE THIS <br />CONTRACT; AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />RECITALS: <br /> <br />1. The State Legislature has authorized Texas cities to collect an occupancy tax on hotel and <br />motel rooms and has approved certain expenditures from the proceeds of this occupancy tax in <br />Chapter 351, Texas Tax Code. <br /> <br />2. The City Council of the City of San Marcos has levied a hotel occupancy tax in Article <br />5 of Chapter 78 of the San Marcos City Code. <br /> <br />3. The City Council wishes to contract with the San Marcos Hispanic Chamber of Commerce <br />for the administration of a portion of the funds collected from the hotel occupancy tax for the <br />purpose of providing tourism promotional services during the City's 2001-2002 fiscal year. <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS: <br /> <br />PART 1. The budget of the San Marcos Hispanic Chamber of Commerce for the 2001-2002 <br />fiscal year, a copy of which is attached to the contract approved in Part 2 below, is approved. <br /> <br />PART 2. The terms and conditions of the attached Contract for Tourism Promotional <br />Services between the City of San Marcos, Texas and the San Marcos Hispanic Chamber of <br />Commerce for the administration of funds collected under Article 5 of Chapter 78 of the City Code <br />and Chapter 351, Texas Tax Code, are approved. <br /> <br />PART 3. The City Manager, Larry D. Gilley, is authorized to execute this contract on behalf <br />of the City of San Marcos. <br /> <br />PART 4.
