<br />24. <br /> <br />ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AGREEMENT <br /> <br />This contract is dated September 18,2001, and is between the City of San Marcos, Texas, <br />a Texas municipal corporation (the "City"), Greater San Marcos Economic Development Council <br />(the "EDC") and the San Marcos Area Chamber of Commerce (the "Chamber"). <br />RECITALS: <br />1. The Chamber administers a community economic development program through the EDC. <br />2. The City desires to renew its contract with the EDC and the Chamber for fiscal year 2001- <br />2002 for professional services to promote orderly and responsible economic development for the San <br />Marcos geographic area. <br /> <br />AGREEMENT: <br />1. JOINT OBLIGATIONS OF EDC AND CHAMBER <br />A. EDC and Chamber shall conduct and administer an economic development program, the <br />mission of which will be to enhance and diversify the San Marcos area economy. EDC and Chamber <br />agree to use their best efforts to accomplish this mission by using the following strategies and actions <br />to achieve the following goals during the term of this Agreement: <br />Goal No.1: Retention and Expansion of Existing Primary Employers <br /> <br />Strategy: <br /> <br />Conduct a business retention/expansion program, maintaining close ties <br />through regular contact with existing primary employers. <br /> <br />Actions: <br />1. Visit primary employers a minimum of twice annually. <br />2. Attend monthly meeting of the San Marcos Manufacturers' Association. <br />3. Make trips, when appropriate, to a local company's headquarters. <br />4. Maintain and host the San Marcos Manufacturers' Association website. <br />5. Update the Manufacturers Directory. <br />Goal No.2: Recruit Primary Employers <br /> <br />Strategy: <br /> <br />Directly or indirectly facilitate the attraction of new primary employers <br />through a targeted marketing campaign. <br /> <br />Actions: <br /> <br />C:\TEMP\area chamber edc-J.doc <br /> <br />Page 1 <br />
