<br />25. <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2001- 164 R <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, APPROVING A CONTRACT BETWEEN <br />THE CITY AND THE SAN MARCOS AREA CHAMBER OF <br />COMMERCE FOR TOURISM PROMOTIONAL SERVICES <br />DURING THE CITY'S 2001-2002 FISCAL YEAR; AUTHORIZING <br />THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE THIS CONTRACT; AND <br />DECLARING AN,EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />RECITALS: <br /> <br />1. State statutes authorize Texas cities to collect an occupancy tax on hotel and motel rooms, <br />and allow cities to make expenditures from the proceeds of this occupancy tax for certain purposes. <br /> <br />2. The City Council of the City of San Marcos has levied a hotel occupancy tax in Article <br />5 of Chapter 78 of the San Marcos City Code. <br /> <br />3. The City Council wishes to contract with the San Marcos Area Chamber of Commerce for <br />the administration of a portion of the funds collected from the hotel occupancy tax, for purposes of <br />providing tourism promotional services for the San Marcos area. <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS: <br /> <br />PART 1. The Convention and Visitors Bureau budget of the San Marcos Area Chamber of <br />Commerce for the 2001-2002 fiscal year, a copy of which is attached to the contract approved in Part <br />2 below, is approved. <br /> <br />PART 2. The terms and conditions of the attached Contract for Tourism Promotional <br />Services between the City of San Marcos, Texas, and the San Marcos Area Chamber of Commerce <br />are approved. <br /> <br />PART 3. The City Manager, Larry D. Gilley, is authorized to execute this contract on behalf <br />ofthe City. <br /> <br />PART 4.
