.. ~

15' 25'
South Buffer Approach Drive wI Curb

-I HIB Trail I-
45'
North Buffer

figure B

.:. ENTRY DRIVE

The entry drive will begin at the boundary of the Purgatory Creek Park property and
terminate at the parking lot for the main building. As park goers move from the urban
fabric of San Marcos to the rural setting of the park, the drive should likewise transition,
which will help to achieve the overall goal of a true respite into nature. This drive also
provides an excellent opportunity to introduce the park user to the park. The drive will
pass through Oak-Cedar woods, negotiate a tributary with rimrock features and traverse
an open meadow with large single Oaks.

. A marker should define the transition from the approach drive to the entry drive. This
marker should evoke the character of rural central Texas. See Figure S

. The drive should highlight the natural features of the park along its route when
possible.

. Views along the route of the entry drive should be maximized.

. The first segment of the entry drive should be an asphalt paved drive that narrows to
a 20-foot width. This drive will take users through a densely wooded area of the park
across a tributary with rim rock features and eventually to the more open character of
the relatively flat meadow area.

Carter = Burgess
Hatch Partnership, LLP
Jankedesign
