*BLACK BOX
City of San Marcos Project: Conversion to IP telephones and single CS1000E
Police Dept
Device
ELAN
TLAN
Optional ELAN
for Dual Homing
Optional TLAN
For Dual Homing
MGC card
1
1
1
1
Session Manager
2
CPPM Call Server
MGC
CPDC Sig Sery ( #1)
1
1
CPDC Sig Sery (#2)
1
1
Site Event Buffer
1
Total
4
5
1
1
System and Session Manager
Session Manager is an application residing in an HP server that provides routing for VoIP traffic
that uses SIP as a signaling protocol. This is the core component of the Avaya Aura platform and
can provide other functions. For this environment, it will route SIP virtual trunk traffic to the IVR
system. Session Manager will be installed as a geographically redundant arrangement with a
server at Municipal and one at the Police Department buildings. Session Manager does not
support IPv6 at this time.
System Manager is the management tool for Session Manager. It also serves as the management
application for other Avaya applications and in the future will become increasingly important in the
Aura Platform. System Manager will also serve as the UCM server (security) for the CS1000E
components. This application will be loaded on two servers in an HA arrangement. These servers
must reside on the same IP segment and therefore be placed in the Municipal building.
Mobile Extension
Licenses for 40 Mobile Extensions (MOBX) are included. BBNS will program the Mobile X in the
PBX. It will be the responsibility of the City to download the iPhone client from the app store and
program. Mobile Extension provides the following:
1. The CS1000 Mobile Extension feature allows mobile phones to connect to the CS1000
system and appear like office extensions.
2. Mobile users are configured with a New TN Type - Universal Extension (UEXT) which
provides the logical connection to the users' mobile phones
3. A Mobile user usually has a regular office desktop phone (digital, IP etc) in addition to the
Universal Extension.
4. Incoming calls to an office phone number automatically call out to the mobile phone
associated with the office extension and the office extension
• If answered on Mobile, desk set lamp status can show busy (SCR, not MCR)
5. A user making a call from the mobile phone can use the same enterprise dial plan as if the
call is made from an internal office extension
Page 11 of 18
