Item 15 <br />Attachment # 2 <br />Page 7 of 14 <br />CITY OF SAN MARCOS <br />2011 -12 ANNUAL BUDGET <br />SEWER SURCHARGE RATE <br />(SURCHARGE PARTICIPANT LIST CUSTOMERS) <br />Applicable: <br />To any non - domestic customer of the City of San Marcos sanitary sewer system that <br />has higher levels of pollutants in their sewage waste than those contained in normal <br />domestic waste and placed on the surcharge participant list. A customer on the <br />surcharge participant list will have a sewer surcharge added to their monthly sewer <br />bill. <br />Surcharge Rate: <br />COD Concentration (Millisram per Liter) <br />351 to 500 - $0.09 per pound. <br />501 to 600 - $0.15 per pound. <br />Over 600 - $0.31 per pound. <br />The rate is not incremental: The COD reading will determine the surcharge rate for a <br />customer's entire discharge. <br />Surcharge Computation: <br />S = V * 8.34 * (COD -350) * Surcharge Rate <br />Definitions: <br />S — Surcharge in dollars that will appear on the monthly billing to customer. <br />V — Volume of monthly water usage in millions of gallons based upon the most <br />recent twelve months average, or a minimum of six months average for new <br />customers. <br />8.34 — Weight in pounds of a gallon of water. <br />COD (Chemical Oxygen Demand) — A measure of wastewater quality in milligrams <br />per liter. <br />350 — Threshold level of COD for sewer surcharge. <br />Item 15 <br />
