The City Council wishes to amend the table of officer positions maintained under <br />City Code Section 2.373 in order to reduce the number of Police Officer positions by two, <br />and to add a Corporal position and a Sergeant Position within the Police Department. <br /> <br />TEXAS: <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, <br /> <br />SECTION 1. The table of positions for each Civil Service Classification in the Police <br />and Fire Departments kept on file in the City Secretary's office is amended in accordance <br />with Section 2.373 of the City Code and Section 143.021 of the Texas Local Government <br />Code to read as follows: <br /> <br />Classification <br /> <br />Number of Positions <br /> <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT <br /> <br />Police Officer (including trainees) <br />Police Corporal <br />Police Sergeant <br />Police Commander <br />Police Assistant Director <br /> <br />41 <br />16 <br />12 <br />5 <br />2 <br /> <br />FIRE DEPARTMENT <br /> <br />Fire Fighters (including trainees) <br />Driver/Engineer <br />Fire Lieutenant <br />Fire Captain <br />Assistant Fire Chief <br /> <br />9 <br />12 <br />6 <br />3 <br />1 <br /> <br />SECTION 2. If any word, phrase, clause, sentence, or paragraph of this ordinance <br />is held to be unconstitutional or invalid by a court of competent jurisdiction, the other <br />provisions of this ordinance will continue in force if they can be given effect without the <br />invalid portion. <br /> <br />SECTION 3. All ordinances and resolutions or parts of ordinances or resolutions in <br />conflict with this ordinance are repealed. <br /> <br />SECTION 4. That this Ordinance will take effect 10 days after the date of its final <br />passage, and the City Secretary will publish notice of its adoption in a newspaper of <br />general circulation in the City. <br /> <br />PASSED AND APPROVED on first reading January 10, 2000. <br /> <br />PASSED AND APPROVED on second reading January 24, 2000. <br /> <br />PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED February 14, 2000 <br /> <br />~~t~ <br /> <br />Mayor <br />
