Rodney Cobb
San Marcos PARD
City of San Marcos

Febmary 10, 2000

Dear Rodney:

I recently had an opportunity to see the greenhouse interpretive center, and wow, does it
really look great! I can't wait to see it again with all the educational exhibits inside. This
building and its location are such a "front door" to our City and have the potential to really
educate people about the environmental uniqueness of our community. It is exciting to
think. about the opportunities that exist to convey such information to the public.

As part of this educational process, the San Marcos Chapter of the Texas Native Plant
Society would like to become involved in the landcaping of this site. The use of native
plants in this area could only serve to reinforce the educational efforts that will be going on
inside the building.

I have met with Melanie, Shenill, and Cliff to offer my services as a landscape architect to
help develop a master landscape plan for the site. I'm sure that before too long many
different groups are going to want to help bring this project to fmition, and a master plan
would facilitate the process. A master plan would also allow the many disparate functions
of the site to be addressed, such as access, safety, security, etc. I look forward to working
with all of you to create this showcase window to San Marcos!

Sincerely,

~?~

Martha J.
