<br />46. <br /> <br />RESOLUTION 2000- 48 R <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, <br />TEXAS, APPOINTING PRESIDING JUDGES AND ALTERNATE JUDGES <br />TO SERVE IN A GENERAL AND SPECIAL ELECTION BY THE CITY TO <br />BE HELD ON MAY 6, 2000; CHARGING THE JUDGES WITH THE DUTY <br />TO HOLD THIS ELECTION IN THEIR RESPECTIVE POLLING PLACES <br />FOR EACH PRECINCT; APPOINTING AN EARLY VOTING BALLOT <br />BOARD; APPOINTING A PRESIDING JUDGE OF THE CENTRAL <br />COUNTING STATION, A TABULATION SUPERVISOR OFTHE CENTRAL <br />COUNTING STATION, AND A CENTRAL COUNTING STATION <br />MANAGER; APPROVING THE APPOINTMENT BY THE PRESIDING <br />JUDGE OF THE CENTRAL COUNTING STATION OF CERTAIN CLERKS; <br />APPROVING THE APPOINTMENT BY THE TABULATION SUPERVISOR <br />OF CERTAIN ASSISTANTS; APPROVING THE APPOINTMENT BY THE <br />EARL YVOTING CLERK OF CERTAIN DEPUTY EARL YVOTING CLERKS, <br />AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />RECITALS: <br /> <br />1. On February 14, 2000, the City Council of the City of San Marcos, Texas, adopted <br />an ordinance ordering the holding of a general and special election by the City on May 6, <br />2000, establishing the rate of compensation to be paid judges, clerks, and assistants to the <br />tabulation supervisor for services rendered during the election, making provision for the <br />conduct of the election and other provisions incident to the purposes thereof, and declaring <br />an emergency. <br /> <br />2. Section 7 of that ordinance provides that the City Council of the City shall by <br />resolution duly adopted, appoint presiding and alternate judges to serve in the election at <br />the polling places for the respective precincts,set forth in Section 6 thereof, and that <br />ordinance further ordains that it shall be each judge's duty to hold the election in the <br />precincts and that any vacancies occurring after the appointment of the judges may be <br />filled by subsequent resolution(s) of the City Council. <br /> <br />3. Section 16 of that ordinance provides that the City Council of the City shall, by <br />resolution duly adopted, appoint the Early Voting Ballot Board, a Presiding Judge of the <br />Central Counting Station, a Tabulation Supervisor of the Central Counting Station, and a <br />Central Counting Station Manager. <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, <br />TEXAS: <br /> <br />PART 1.
