<br />Regular Meeting <br /> <br />November 1, 2005 <br /> <br />5 . <br />Page 5 <br /> <br />Mayor Narvaiz introduced for consideration a public hearing and adoption of <br />Ian Ordinance, the caption which was read as follows <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, <br />APPROVING AN AMENDMENT TO THE FUTURE LAND USE MAP FROM INDUSTRIAL TO <br />COMMERCIAL FOR A 58 43 ACRE, MORE OR LESS, TRACT OF LAND LOCATED IN <br />THE 2500 BLOCK OF HUNTER ROAD; AND REZONING THIS TRACT FROM ULI" <br />(LIGHT INDUSTRIAL DISTRICT) TO uGC" (GENERAL COMMERCIAL DISTRICT) ; <br />INCLUDING PROCEDURAL PROVISIONS, AND PROVIDING FOR PENALTIES <br /> <br />Mayor Narvaiz opened the public hearing and asked if anyone wished to <br />speak No one did, so Mayor Narvaiz closed the public hearing Mr <br />Thomaides moved for adoption of the Ordinance, and Mr Diaz seconded the <br />motion <br /> <br />Mayor Narvaiz introduced for consideration adoption of an Ordinance on <br />emergency, the caption which was read as follows <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, <br />AMENDING THE 2005-2006 CITY BUDGET TO PROVIDE FUNDING FOR THE ECONOMIC <br />DEVELOPMENT SERVICES AGREEMENT WITH MARGIE V MOORE DBA GLOBAL <br />MARKETEER GROUP, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY <br /> <br />IMr Guerrero moved for adoption of the Ordinance on emergency, and Mr Diaz <br />seconded the motion Mr O'Leary stated this Ordinance is to provide <br />funding for the Economic Development Services Agreement with Margie V <br />Moore, dba Global Marketeer Group Mr Thomaides inquired as to the <br />account the funds are from and what account the funds are moving to Mr <br />O'Leary stated the funds are moving from General Fund Balance Electric <br />Utility into General Fund Balance Economic Development The Council then <br />voted unanimously for adoption of the Ordinance on emergency <br /> <br />Mayor Narvaiz introduced for consideration approval of an Ordinance on <br />first reading, the caption which was read as follows <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, <br />AMENDING CHAPTER 6, ANIMALS, OF THE CITY CODE BY ADDING SECTION 6 087 <br />REGARDING THE SAFETY OF ANIMALS IN MOTOR VEHICLES; INCLUDING <br />PROCEDURAL PROVISIONS, AND PROVIDING FOR PENALTIES <br /> <br />Mr Thomaides moved for approval of the Ordinance on first reading, and Mr <br />Mihalkanin seconded the motion Mr O'Leary stated the Council held a <br />discussion regarding the safety of animals in motor vehicles at the Council <br />Meeting on October 18, 2005 He stated the Council asked Staff to bring <br />I back an Ordinance similar to the Ordinance adopted by the City of New <br />Braunfels Mr Taylor stated he has received several phone calls from <br />concerned citizens regarding animals in the back of trucks He stated he <br />
