<br />Regular Meeting <br /> <br />December 7, 2005 <br /> <br />97. <br />Page 15 <br /> <br />I stated Centerpoint is trying to increase based on rates here in this area <br />The Council then voted unanimously for adoption of the Resolution <br /> <br />Mayor Narvaiz introduced for consideration adoption of an Ordinance on <br />emergency, the caption which was read as follows <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, <br />AMENDING THE 2005-2006 CITY BUDGET TO PROVIDE FUNDING FOR LEGAL <br />SERVICES IN CONNECTION WITH THE HOTEL AND CONFERENCE CENTER PROJECT, <br />AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY <br /> <br />Mr Diaz moved for adoption of the Ordinance on emergency, and Mr Guerrero <br />seconded the motion Mr Bose inquired as to the anticipated final cost of <br />legal services. Mr O'Leary stated this is the cost of hiring outside <br />counsel He stated this outside counsel has good experience with economic <br />development contracts The Council then voted unanimously for adoption of <br />the Ordinance on emergency (Mr Thomaides was not present during this <br />vote) <br /> <br />Mayor Narvaiz introduced for consideration adoption of an Ordinance on <br />emergency, the caption which was read as follows <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, <br />AMENDING THE 2005-2006 CITY BUDGET TO PROVIDE FUNDING FOR UTILITY BILL <br />ASSISTANCE FOR LOW-INCOME PERSONS; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY <br /> <br />Mr Mihalkanin moved for adoption of the Ordinance on emergency, and Mr <br />Guerrero seconded the motion Mr Bose inquired as to whether Community <br />Action had State funding Mayor Narvaiz stated she has been in contact <br />with Community Action regarding State funding The Council then voted <br />unanimously for adoption of the Ordinance on emergency (Mr Thomaides was <br />not present during this item ) <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Mayor Narvaiz introduced for consideration approval for use of General Fund <br />Contingency Funds in the amount of $2,000 00 for sponsorship of Texas State <br />University-San Marcos Conference on Race, Ethnicity and Place Mr <br />Guerrero moved for approval for use of General Fund Contingency Funds in <br />the amount of $2,000 00 for sponsorship of Texas State University-San <br />Marcos Conference on Race, Ethnicity and Place, and Mr Thomaides seconded <br />the motion Mr Thomaides stated he feels this request should be referred <br />to the Minority Tourism Development Board to fund Mayor Narvaiz stated <br />she does not feel this request fits the requirements for Tourism <br />expenditures On roll call for approval of use of General Fund Contingency <br />Funds in the amount of $2,000 00 for sponsorship of Texas State University- <br />San Marcos Conference on Race, Ethnicity and Place, the following vote was <br />recorded <br />
