The EARIP also contracted with BIO-WEST to conduct a study on the development of Environmental Restoration and Protection Areas at Comal Springs. BIO- -WEST 2011). Finally, the EARIP contracted with USFWS and BIO-WEST to conduct a pilot study to determine the effectiveness of Melanoides tuberculatus removal on lowering drifting gill parasite numbers in the Comal River.
