EXHIBIT "B" <br />City of San Marcos <br />Juvenile Case Management Educational Standards <br />Job Applicants: <br />Preferred: Bachelor's degree in social sciences, social work, criminal justice or related fields. <br />Optional: Associates degree or 2 years of college with course work in social work, criminal <br />justice, or related field with 2 years of experience working with ,juveniles in the areas of <br />education, social services, criminal justice or related field. <br />Minimum requirements: Associates degree or 2 years of college with course work in social work, <br />criminal justice, or related field. <br />'raining: <br />New hires are required to provide documentation establishing that they have the education or <br />experience in the areas of case management, court room procedures and juvenile law, and have <br />acknowledged receipt of the Juvenile Case Managers Code of Ethics prior to unsupervised work <br />with juvenile offenders and their families. Training will be provided in an on the job setting and <br />in the class room when needed. <br />Juvenile Case Management staff will be required to complete a minimum of 8 hours of training <br />each year directly related to pertinent juvenile population issues and/or court operations such as <br />but not limited to; the role of the juvenile case manager, case planning and management, <br />applicable procedural and substantive law, courtroom proceedings and presentation, services to <br />at -risk youth, local programs for juveniles, and the detection and prevention of abuse, <br />exploitation, and neglect of juveniles, court operations and technology. <br />
