LLEBG Program/Purpose Areas <br /> <br />Jurisdictions are reminded that they may not useLLEBG funds to supplant/replace local funds. <br /> <br />The seven (7) purpose areas in which LLEBG funds may be allocated are the same as in previous LLEBG program <br />years. You will be required to indicate the total dollar amounts allocated to each of the seven (7) program/purpose <br />areas.. The sum of the purpos.e area allocations must equal your total award plus match. <br /> <br />Purpose Area #1a: Hiring and Training oflaw enforcement and support persoIDlel (You will be required to provide information <br />regarding the number of FTE's funded with LLEBG funds and indicate the category/classification of employee) <br /> <br />Purpose Area #1 b: Overtime for law enforcement andlor support personnel (You will be required to indicate the programmatic <br />purpose areas for which the overtime is expended.) <br /> <br />Purpose Area #1 c: Equipment (You will be required to indicate the type of equipment being purchased and the initiatives to be <br />addressed by the use of the equipment.) <br /> <br />Purpose Area #2: Enhanced Security Measures in and around Schools or Locations that are a special risk (i.e., domestic <br />violence shelters, elderly housing, etc.). (You will be required to indicate the facility for which security measures are being <br />enhanced. If the pmj ect includes the purchase of equipment in order to meet the project goals, you will be asked to provide <br />information regarding the type of equipment being purchased.) <br /> <br />Purpose Area #3: Establish or Support Drug Courts (You will be required to identifY the specific population involved in the <br />drug court [juvenile, adult or both] and provide information regarding the drug court pmgram.) <br /> <br />Purpose Area #4: Enhance adjudication of cases involving violent offenders (You will need to identify the age group targeted by <br />the project, provide data relative to the number ofFTE's funded, and the initiative behind the program [i.e., increasing space in <br />correctional and holding facilities].) <br /> <br />Purpose Area #5: Establish Multi-jurisdictional Task Forces (You will be required to identify both local and federal agency <br />partners as well as the specitic focus of the task force.) <br /> <br />Purpose Area #6: EstablishConnnunity CrinIe Prevention Programs to control, detect, or investigate crime or to prosecute <br />criminals (You will be asked to identify the program focus and target population of the program.) <br /> <br />Purpose Area #7: Defray the Cost of Indemnification Insurance for law enforcement officers (You will be required to provide <br />information regarding the total amollnt of indemnification insurance purchased by your jurisdiction.) <br /> <br />Note: The following list indicates those expenses that are no.t allowable under the LLEBG guidelines: <br /> <br />o Tanks or Armored Vehicles <br />o Fixed-Wing Aircraft <br />o Limousines <br />o Real Estate <br />o Vehicles (not primarily used for law enforcement) <br />o Consultants <br />o Yachts <br />o New Construction <br /> <br />(* Renovations to existingfacilities require prior approvalby BJA staffand thefederal share cannot exceed 10% of the total <br /> <br />renovations costs,) <br /> <br />Louisiana State Applicants(FY 1999 ONLY) <br /> <br />20f3 <br /> <br />LLEBG legislative language requires Lousiana grantees to consider Advisory Board recommendations as binding.
