The Citizen Review Commission, in its June 13, 2001 report to the City Council, <br />recommended that 50% of the hotel occupancy tax funds allocated by the City Council for the <br />promotion of the arts be allocated for permanent display art, and the City Council wishes to <br />implement this recommendation of the Citizen Review Commission. <br /> <br />2. The City Council also wishes to revise the Arts Commission ordinance to authonze the <br />arts commission to take an active role in soliciting applications for mis funding, to authorize the Arts <br />Commission to make recommendations to the city council on applications for permanent display art, <br />and to authorize the arts commission to make recommendations to the city council on funding for <br />and locations for permanent display art. <br /> <br />3. The City Council also wishes to amend Section 2.313 of the City Code to authorize the <br />Parks and Recreation Board to make recommendations to the City Council on locations for <br />permanent display art. <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS: <br /> <br />SECTION 1. Section 2.3610fthe City Code is amended as follows (underlining indicates <br />added text; overstrike indicates deleted text): <br /> <br />Sec. 2.361. General powers and duties; recommendations and decisions on funding and <br />locations for permanent display art. <br /> <br />(a) The arts commission will provide oversight for the expenditure of city hotel occupancy <br />tax funds for the promotion of the arts, including instrumental and vocal music, dance, <br />drama, folk art, creative writing, architecture, design and allied fields, painting, sculpture, <br />photography, graphic and craft arts, motion pictures, radio, television, tape and sound <br />
