<br />wi th said interest to be evidenced by interest coupons which shall <br />appertain to said certificates and which shall be payable on the dates <br />indicated in the FORM OF CERTIFICATE set forth in this ordinance. <br /> <br />Section 4. Said certificates and interest coupons shall be <br />payable, shall have the character istics, and shall be signed and <br />executed (and said certificates shall be sealed), and said <br />certificates may be redeemed prior to their scheduled maturities, all <br />as provided and in the manner indicated in the FORM OF CERTIFICATE set <br />forth in this ordinance. <br /> <br />Section 5. The form of said certificates, including the form of <br />registration certificate of the Comptroller of Public Accounts of the <br />State of Texas to be printed and endorsed on each of said certificates, <br />and the form of the aforesaid interest coupons which shall appertain <br />and be attached initially to each of said certificates, shall be, <br />respectively, substantially as follows: <br /> <br />FORM OF CERTIFICATE <br /> <br />NO. <br /> <br />$5,000 <br /> <br />UNITED STATES OF AMERICA <br />STATE OF TEXAS <br />COUNTY OF HAYS <br />CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS <br />COMBINATION TAX AND REVENUE <br />CERTIFICATE OF OBLIGATION <br />SERIES 1982 <br /> <br />ON AUGUST 1, 19 , THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, in the County of <br />Hays, State of Texas, promises to pay the bearer hereof the principal <br />amount of <br /> <br />FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS <br /> <br />and to pay interest thereon from the date hereof at the rate of ____% <br />per annum, evidenced by interest coupons payable February 1, 1983, and <br />semiannually thereafter on August 1 and February 1 of each year while <br />this certificate is outstanding. <br /> <br />THE PRINCIPAL of and interest on this certificate shall be <br />payable in lawful money of the Uni ted States of Amer ica, wi thout <br />exchange or collection charges to the bearer, upon presentation and <br />surrender of this certificate or proper interest coupon at the <br />HAYS COUNTY NATIONAL BANK [ SAN MARCOS[ TEXAS , <br />which shall consti tute and be defined as the Paying Agent for this <br />series of certificates. <br /> <br />THIS CERTIFICATE is one of a series of certificates of obligation <br />dated as of May 1, 1982, authorized, issued and delivered in the <br />aggregate pr incipal amount of $380,000 for the purpose of paying <br />contr actual obligations as follows: $ 200,000 for constructing and <br />permanently equipping a fire station for said City; and $180,000 for <br />the purchase of land for addi tions and improvements to the Ci ty' s <br />waterworks and sewer system; under and in strict conformity with the <br />Constitution and laws of the State of Texas, including particularly <br />Article 2368a.l, of the Revised Civil Statutes of Texas, as amended, <br />and pursuant to an ordinance duly passed by the City Council of said <br />City. <br /> <br />ON FEBRUARY 1, 1983, and on any interest payment date thereafter, <br />the outstanding certificates of this series may be redeemed prior to <br />their scheduled maturities, at the option of said City, in whole or <br />from time to time in part, at a price equal to the principal amount <br /> <br />-2- <br />
