<br /> <br />136 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, ~1ENDING THE CODE OF <br />ORDINANCES OF SAID CITY TO SET STANDARDS <br />FOR THE APPOINTMENT OF MEMBERS OF THE CITY <br />PLANNING CO~MISSION AND CITY ZONING COI~1IS- <br />SION, TO DESCRIBE CHARACTERISTICS AND/OR AREAS <br />OF EXPERTISE OF EACH MEMBER ON EACH COW1IS- <br />SION AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />ORDINANCE NO. 1982-44 <br /> <br />WHEREAS, on August 8, 1981, the voters of the City of <br />San Marcos, Texas, approved an amendment to the Charter of <br />said City, which said amendment requires the appointment <br />of a city planning commission and a city zoning commis- <br />sion by the beginning of the fiscal year 1982-1983; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, said amendment requires that, prior to said <br />appointment, the city council shall adopt an ordinance en- <br />suring broad representation and expertise on both commis- <br />sions; now, therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />SAN MARCOS, TEXAS: <br /> <br />SECTION 1. That the Code of Ordinances, City of San <br />Marcos, Texas, is hereby amended by adding an article to <br />be numbered Article VI of Chapter 2, which said article <br />reads as follows: <br /> <br />ARTICLE VI <br /> <br />City Planning Commission And City Zoning <br />Commission <br /> <br />Sec. 2-103. City planning commission. <br /> <br />A city planning commission is hereby established <br />to become effective October 1, 1982. Said com- <br />mission shall consist of seven (7) members to be <br />appointed by the city council to ensure broad repre- <br />sentation and expertise, including such areas of <br />experience as community planning, environmental <br />protection, building and development and finance. <br /> <br />Sec. 2-104. City zoning commission. <br /> <br />A city zoning commission is hereby established <br />to become effective October 1, 1982. Said com- <br />mission shall consist of seven (7) members to be <br />appointed by the city council to ensure broad repre- <br />sentation and expertise, including such areas of <br />experience as community planning, environmental <br />protection, building and development and finance. <br /> <br />Sec. 2-105. Abolition of planning and zoning <br />commission. <br /> <br />The planning and zoning commission of the City <br />of San Marcos, Texas, in existence on September 30, <br />1982, shall be abolished as of that date and said <br />commission shall exercise no further duties or <br />responsibilities granted by Article VII of the <br />Charter of the City of San Marcos from and after <br />that date. <br />
