136 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, ~1ENDING THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF SAID CITY TO SET STANDARDS FOR THE APPOINTMENT OF MEMBERS OF THE CITY PLANNING CO~MISSION AND CITY ZONING COI~1IS- SION, TO DESCRIBE CHARACTERISTICS AND/OR AREAS OF EXPERTISE OF EACH MEMBER ON EACH COW1IS- SION AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. ORDINANCE NO. 1982-44 WHEREAS, on August 8, 1981, the voters of the City of San Marcos, Texas, approved an amendment to the Charter of said City, which said amendment requires the appointment of a city planning commission and a city zoning commis- sion by the beginning of the fiscal year 1982-1983; and, WHEREAS, said amendment requires that, prior to said appointment, the city council shall adopt an ordinance en- suring broad representation and expertise on both commis- sions; now, therefore, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the Code of Ordinances, City of San Marcos, Texas, is hereby amended by adding an article to be numbered Article VI of Chapter 2, which said article reads as follows: ARTICLE VI City Planning Commission And City Zoning Commission Sec. 2-103. City planning commission. A city planning commission is hereby established to become effective October 1, 1982. Said com- mission shall consist of seven (7) members to be appointed by the city council to ensure broad repre- sentation and expertise, including such areas of experience as community planning, environmental protection, building and development and finance. Sec. 2-104. City zoning commission. A city zoning commission is hereby established to become effective October 1, 1982. Said com- mission shall consist of seven (7) members to be appointed by the city council to ensure broad repre- sentation and expertise, including such areas of experience as community planning, environmental protection, building and development and finance. Sec. 2-105. Abolition of planning and zoning commission. The planning and zoning commission of the City of San Marcos, Texas, in existence on September 30, 1982, shall be abolished as of that date and said commission shall exercise no further duties or responsibilities granted by Article VII of the Charter of the City of San Marcos from and after that date.
