<br /> <br /> <br />153 <br /> <br />ORDINANCE NO. 1982-46 <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, AHENDING SEC- <br />TION 2-31 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF <br />SAID CITY TO PRESCRIBE THE NUMBER OF <br />POSITIONS IN EACH CLASSIFICATION OF POLICE- <br />MEN AND FIREMEN EMPLOYED BY THE CITY <br />OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, AND DECLARING AN <br />EMERGENCY. <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN <br />~ffiRCOS, TEXAS: <br /> <br />SECTION 1. That Section 2-31 of the Code of Ordinances, <br />City of San Marcos, Texas, is hereby amended to read as <br />follows: <br /> <br />Sec. 2-31. Job classification and salary. <br /> <br />There is hereby prescribed the following number <br />of positions for each classification in the police <br />and fire departments of the City of San Marcos, <br />Texas: <br /> <br />Classification <br /> <br />Number of positions <br />Authorized <br /> <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT <br /> <br />Police Trainee <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />Police Officer <br /> <br />21 <br /> <br />Detective/Investigator <br /> <br />4 <br /> <br />Police Sergeant <br /> <br />4 <br /> <br />FIRE DEPARTMENT <br /> <br />Fire Trainee <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />Firefighter <br /> <br />15 <br /> <br />Fire Lieutenant <br /> <br />6 <br /> <br />Fire Captain <br /> <br />3 <br /> <br />*The number of Police Trainees and Fire Trainees <br />cannot be predicted exactly because the number will depend <br />on the number of staffed Police Officers and Firefignters~ <br />In no event, however, will the combined total of Police <br />Trainees and Police Officers ever exceed 21 persons at any <br />one time and in no event will the combined total of Fire <br />Trainees and Firefighters ever exceed 15 persons at any <br />one time. <br /> <br />SECTION 2. That the importance of this Ordinance creates <br />an emergency and an imperative purpose necessary that the <br />provisions of the charter requiring that ordinances shall be <br />read at three separate meetings and that no ordinance shall <br />become effective until the expiration of ten (10) days follow- <br />ing the date of its final passage be suspended, and these <br />provisions are hereby suspended, and this Ordinance shall take <br />
