<br />52 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION_1982-60R <br /> <br />RESOLUTION <br /> <br />IN SUPPORT OF A LOOP AROUND <br />SAN MARCOS, TEXAS <br /> <br />The City Council of the City of San Marcos recognizes <br />its responsibility to plan for adequate public facilities, <br />in this instance transportation, for those using those <br />facilities. <br /> <br />WHEREAS <br />the Hays County and San Marcos area is experiencing <br />rapid population and industrial growth with acceler- <br />ated growth projections for the future; <br /> <br />WHEREAS <br />the present population is causing traffic congestion <br />on the major arterial streets in and around San <br />Marcos and that transient private and commercial <br />traffic driving through San Marcos to get to the <br />Wimberley, Dripping Springs, and Blanco areas com- <br />pound the traffic congestion; <br /> <br />WHEREAS <br />the congested traffic in and around San Marcos causes <br />unsafe conditions and interferes with pedestrian <br />traffic and retail trade in the downtown area; <br /> <br />WHEREAS <br />the Transportation Plan of the current Master Plan <br />of the City of San Marcos calls for looping of <br />arterial roadways around the City to aid in the <br />general traffic flow and emergency vehicular traffic <br />through and around the City; <br /> <br />THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF SAN MARCOS acting in regular session on <br />1982 SUPPORTS THE EFFORT TO OBTAIN A LOOP IN THE SOUTHWEST <br />QUADRANT OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS CONNECTING IH 35 AND <br />RANCH ROAD 12 AS PHASE I OF A COMPLETE LOOP in an effort <br />to provide safe and efficient traffic flow around the City, <br />to enhance pedestrian safety and traffic flow within the <br />City and to prevent further deterioration of the quality <br />of life in San Marcos, Texas. <br /> <br />ADOPTED-this 8th day of November~2.. ~ <br /> <br />;6~~ O~~ <br />;;:'~arhn(1JE~~7 Craddock <br /> <br /> <br />Clty Secretary <br />
