83. <br />Regular Meeting February 24, 2003 Page 10 <br /> <br />Mayor Habingreither introduced a discussion regarding setting date (s) for <br />the Budget Policy Workshop. Council agreed to schedule the Budget Policy <br />Statement Workshop on Monday, March 17, 2003 at 12:00 noon with no ending <br />time. <br /> <br />Mayor Habingreither introduced the City Council's Report. 1) Mr. Mayhew <br />stated at the last Convention and Visitors Bureau meeting, CVB suggested <br />the Council look at adding a Southwest Texas State University <br />representative to the Board. 2) Mr. Mayhew stated a group of hotels wants <br />to market San Marcos and their hotels. They have asked CVB to partner <br />with them on this effort. He feels they will also ask the City to partner <br />and provide funding. Mr. Mayhew feels this might be a good opportunity to <br />ask Tanger and Prime Outlet Malls to partner on this effort. 3) Mayor <br />Habingreither stated Dr. Taught's investiture is Friday, February 28, 2003 <br />from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. He encouraged the Council to attend. 4) Mr. <br />Montoya stated the Fire Department has created an ongoing relationship <br />with Santiago, Mexico. He also stated representatives of Monclova, Mexico <br />were here this weekend. Mr. Montoya stated he wants to create a formal <br />sister-city relationship. Council agreed to discuss this issue at the <br />Regular Meeting held on March 3, 2003. 5) Mr. Montoya stated there are no <br />cemetery plots remaining for people in financial need. The City and <br />County have to pay a high cost to find a location. He feels the City <br />should acquire a City cemetery location for paupers. Mayor Habingreither <br />asked staff to research paupers' burials and how to handle them. <br /> <br />Mayor Habingreither introduced an Executive Session pursuant to the <br />Government Code, Section 551.074, to discuss the duties of public officers <br />(City Council). Mr. Mayhew moved the Council adjourn into Executive <br />Session at 10:26 p.m. and Mr. Mihalkanin seconded the motion, which passed <br />unanimously. <br /> <br />Ms. Tatum moved the Council reconvene at 10:58 p.m. and Mr. Mihalkanin <br />seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />The meeting adjourned at 10:59 p.m. on motion made by Mr. Montoya and <br />seconded by Ms. Tatum. <br /> <br />Robert B.
