Pg. 2 con't <br />to improve air quality and facilitate energy independence by encouraging and accelerating the use of <br />alternative fuel vehicles (AFVs) through the increased use and understanding of alternative fuels. <br />Central Texas Clean Cities will coordinate efforts in the interest of: <br />Reducing dependence on petroleum-based and imported fuels, as specified in the Energy <br />Policy Act of 1992; <br />2. Working towards meeting the vehicle emission standard of Title II of the Clean Air Act <br />Amendments of 1990; <br />3. Educating the public on alternative fuels, AFV, fuel economy, Hybrid Electric Vehicles, idle <br />reduction technologies, fuel blends, and their contribution towards an overall reduced <br />emissions strategy; <br />4. Encouraging the development of safe public AFV infrastructure; <br />5. Supporting mandated fleets in meeting their state, federal and local alternative fuels <br />requirements; <br />6. Supporting the goals and objectives of the Central Texas Clean Cities stakeholders' <br />alternative fuel policies and AFV Implementation Plan. <br />This Memorandum of Understanding is not intended to, and does not create, any contractual rights and obligations with respect to <br />the signatories or any other parties. This MOU maybe amended with the consent of the signing parties and maybe terminated by <br />the mutual consent of the signing parties upon thirty (30) day written notice to the parties. Any party may withdraw at any time <br />from participating in the MOU and thereby terminate its commitments thereunder; this withdrawal does not terminate the MOU or <br />the commitments with respect to the remaining signatories.
