<br />ATTACHMENT 1 <br /> <br />PROJECT DESCRIPTION <br /> <br />As a result of projected growth in the area. the City of San Marcos intends to increase wastewater capacity <br />along IH 35 south of Ebony Street and to pro..ide gravity wastewater senice to property in the vicinity of <br />the McCarty Road and IH 35 intersection. To achieve this goal. t.l-te City has identified two components <br />for this project. These components include the Eastside Interceptor Phase n and the IH 35 Relief Sewer <br />Extension. <br /> <br />These components were evaluated by 1C&B during the Preliminafy Engineering Phase Investigation with <br />the results presented to the City in a Preliminary Engineering Report dated September 1998. Two <br />alternatives for providing this service capacity were evaluated. The first generally fonows the <br />recommendations in the 1995 Wastewater Master Plan (AJtematift No.1). The second alternative <br />includes additional coosiderations fer saving development in iIle Cottonwood C.reck drainage basin, <br />generally as outlined in the City's 1987 Wastewater Master Plan (Alternative No.2). This service area <br />was not ineluded in the 1995 Master Plan. <br /> <br />The City bas elected to proceed wi1h. the final enginec:ring desip and CODSInJdiOD phase services for the <br />recommended improvements outlined under Alternative No. l1ritJ1 the following aception: <br /> <br />1. Prior to the S1art of final design. the wastewatcf flows will be tefmed (one time) as <br />directed by the City and TC&B will confirm the proposed pipe sizes are adequate to <br />convey the flow. <br /> <br />The wastewater line is planned to be constructed within existing easements or within the IH.35 right of <br />way. From Wonderworld Drive to the middle of the International Electric Corporation property. the <br />wastewater line v.1U be in an existing 2()' easement. From the middle of the International Ela."1ric <br />Corporation property to the San Marcos Factory Shop ptoperty. the wasteViater line win be m an existing <br />2S' easement or easements obtained from San Marcos Factory Shops. <br />
