WHEREAS, should such a proposal be enacted, it would have a devastating <br />effect on the City's CDBG program by eliminating projects and activities such as those <br />described in Recital 5 above for the benefit of the low and moderate income residents of <br />San Marcos; <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF <br />THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS: <br /> <br />PART 1. The City hereby calls on the Congress to provide a FY 2007 funding <br />level of no less than $4.35 billion in Community Development Block Grant formula <br />funding. <br /> <br />PART 2. The Mayor, Susan Narvaiz, is authorized and directed to designate the <br />Week of May 7, 2006 through May 13, 2006 as "Community Development Block <br />Grant Week" in the City in support of the valued Community Development Block Grant <br />program that has made a tremendous contribution to the viability of the housing stock, <br />neighborhoods and infrastructure in the City. <br /> <br />PART 3. The City Council hereby encourages all citizens to join together in <br />expressing support for the Community Development Block Grant Program. <br /> <br />PART 4. The City Clerk, Janis K. Womack, is authorized and directed to deliver <br />a copy of this resolution to the officers of Senators Kay Bailey Hutchison and John <br />Comyn and to Congressman Henry Cuellar, and to the United States Conference of <br />Mayors and the National League of Cities. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />PART 5.
