<br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />87 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 1980-50B <br /> <br />ORDER DECLARING RESULTS OF SPECIAL CITY ELECTION <br /> <br />THE STATE OF TEXAS X <br />CITY OF SAN MARCOS X <br /> <br />On this the 11th day of August, 1980, the City Council of the <br />City of San Marcos, Texas, convened in Regular Session, open <br />to the public, at the regular meeting place thereof with the <br />following members present, to-wit: Kenneth V. Kraus, Mayor, <br />Council Members Karl W. Brown, Robert L. Cavazos, Berry R. James, <br />Tess Norris, John J. Stokes; and City Secretary, Doriss Hambrick; <br />and the following members absent: None, constituting a quorum, <br />and among other proceedings had were the following: <br /> <br />Mayor Kraus introduced a Resolution and Order. Council Member <br />moved for its adoption. The motion was seconded by <br />Council Member and the motion, carrying with it the <br />adoption of the Resolution and Order prevailed by the following <br />vote: <br /> <br />AYE: <br /> <br />NAY: <br /> <br />The Resolution is as follows: <br /> <br />There came on to be considered the returns of an election held <br />on the 9th day of August, 1980, for the purpose of electing the <br />hereinafter named official, and it appearing from said returns, <br />duly and legally made, that there were cast at said election <br />valid and legal votes; that each of the candidates in said election <br />received the following votes: <br /> <br />FOR COUNCIL MEMBER, PLACE 4 (UNEXPIRED TERM) <br /> <br />NAME OF CANDIDATE <br /> <br />TOTAL NUMBER OF VOTES <br /> <br />Lupe R. Cruz <br />Rick Daniels <br />John Pfeffer <br />E. C. "Ed" Tarbutton <br />J. C. Jackson <br /> <br />180 <br />29 <br />38 <br />560 <br />78 <br /> <br />That the proposition for a 17% increase ln pay for the firefighters <br />received the following vote: <br /> <br />FOR the proposition <br /> <br />584 <br /> <br />AGAINST the proposition <br /> <br />221 <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />SAN MARCOS, TEXAS: <br /> <br />That said election was duly called; that notice of said election <br />was given in accordance with law, and that said election was given <br />in accordance with law, and that E. C. "Ed" Tarbutton was duly elected <br />Council Member, Place 4 at said election and Mr. Tarbutton is hereby <br />declared duly elected to this office, subject to the taking of his <br />oath. <br /> <br />That a majority of the legally qualified voters voting in said election <br />voted For the proposition regarding a 17% pay increase for firefighters, <br />and said proposition is hereby declared to have passed. <br /> <br />It is further found and determined that ln accordance with the order <br />of this governing body, the Secretary posted notice of this meeting <br />on the bulletin board located in City Hall, a place convenient to the <br />
