<br />39 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 1980-74-R <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS REQUESTING THAT <br />THE STATE DEPARTMENT OF HIGHWAYS AND PUBLIC <br />TRANSPORTATION RELOCATE THE PRESENT EXIT <br />RAMP FROM INTERSTATE HIGHWAY 35 TO STATE <br />HIGHWAY 123 TO A SITE NORTH OF C.M. ALLEN <br />PARKWAY IN SAID CITY; DIRECTING THE MAYOR <br />OF SAID CITY TO TRANSM[T THIS RESOLUTION <br />TO THE STATE DEPARTMENT OF HIGHWAYS AND <br />PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION AND DECLARING AN <br />EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, there is currently an exit ramp from Interstate <br />Highway 35, in the vicinity of State Highway 123, which is placed <br />too far to L~e south to be an effective entrance to the City of <br />San Marcos; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, said exit contains a curve which makes the ramp diffi- <br />cult to travel; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the relocation of said exit ramp to the vicinity of <br />C.M. Allen Parkway would allow traffic exiting at that point to <br />enter the center of San Marcos by way of C.M. Allen Parkway; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of San Marcos, Texas <br />believes that the utilization of C.M. Allen Parkway as an entrance <br />to and exit from the city center would create better traffic flow <br />than the current traffic pattern; now, therefore, <br /> <br />"} <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, <br />TEXAS: <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />PART 1. That the State Department of Highways and Public <br />Transportation should, and the Department is so urged to, relocate <br />the exit ramp for State Highway 123 to a site north of C.M. Allen <br />Parkway in said city, said ramp to be an exit from Interstate <br />Highway 35. <br /> <br />PART 2. That an entrance to Interstate Highway 35 shall be <br />located in the vicinity of State Highway 123 at the site of the <br />present exit ramp. <br /> <br />PART 3. That the Mayor of the City of San Marcos, Texas, <br />Kenneth V. Kraus, be, and he is hereby, directed to transmit this <br />Resolution to the State Department of Highways and public Transporta- <br />tion. <br /> <br />PART 4.
