13

ZIIH.
I

CITY OF SAN MARCOS

OFFICE MEMORANDUM

TO:

A. C. Gonzalez, City Manager

FROM:

Albert Sierra, Director of Community Services

SUBJECT:

Dunbar Building Renovation

DATE:

December 2, 1980

RE:

I

As per the attached work write up for the renovation of the
Dunbar Recreational building we estimate that the first part
of the proposed project can be undertaken for approximately
$18,411.00. City Council allocated $25,000.00 to do the
initial work. The proposed renovation includes the area now
being used by the City as a work room.

We propose that the City should be the general contractor
and that we bid out only those phases or items which we
anticipate would cost in excess of $3,000.00. - These would
be the electrical, heating, and air conditioning. The
other phases of work involve plumbing, masonry, carpentry,
floor installation, and concrete work we can sub-contract
these out without having to bid because the cost for each
would be less than $3,000.00. Other areas where the City
crews could be engaged would be painting and minor carpentry
work.

We do not anticipate any difficulty in undertaking this work
ourselves. Mr. Jack Major would be the person in charge
over the total development. We have presented the scope of
work to Ms. Ollie Giles, but have not had any comment as of
this date.

Please present this proposal to the City Council for their
input, suggestion, and comment. Staff will be available to
answer any questions regarding to this endeavor.

I

Sincerely,

~it0~'~ia-

Director of Community Services

AS:mm

CSM-l00

IV
