<br />Chapter 2 <br /> <br />Sector Six Today <br /> <br />SECTOR SIX TODAY <br /> <br />Introduction <br /> <br />In order to formulate a sector plan that will strengthen the identity of the neighborhoods <br />and guide change within the sector compatible with the aims of the Master Plan, it is <br />important to understand the present Sector Six. This chapter, "Sector Six Today, " <br />describes specifics of the sector: its natural environment, built environment, its people, <br />and the community facilities within the sector. <br /> <br />Sector Six is located along the east side ofIH-35 north of the San Marcos River. Three <br />neighborhoods, Blanco Gardens, Two Rivers East, and FairIawn are found in Sector Six. <br />These established neighborhoods in Sector Six are generally modest priced single family <br />homes. Sector Six contains two parks. Stokes Park, on Cape Road along the San Marcos <br />River gives residents a place to relax and the San Marcos Softball and Soccer complex on <br />State Highway 21 gives residents a place to play. <br /> <br />The commercial establishments in Sector Six are located mostly along IH-35 and State <br />Highway 80. The largest commercial centers include the San Marcos Place on Bugg <br />Lane, the San Mar Plaza on Highway 80, and the Wal-mart Supercenter located at State <br />Highway 80 and River Road. Restaurants in Sector Six include Ninfa's, Baysea's Fish <br />Market and Seafood Restaurant, and various fast-food establishments. <br /> <br />The main industrial establishments in Sector Six are CF AN and Rohr San Marcos, which <br />are located in the San Marcos Technology Park on IH 35. <br /> <br />Public facilities and institutions in Sector Six include the San Marcos Municipal Airport, <br />San Marcos Advanced Tertiary Wastewater Treatment Plant, LCRA substation, PEe <br />substation, Department of Public Safety, San Marcos Animal Shelter, Greater San Marcos <br />Youth Council, Hays Caldwell Women's Center, Hill Country Ministries Church and <br />School, Hays County Law Enforcement Center, and the Hays County Sheriffs Office of <br />Public Safety. <br /> <br />The land is generally flat with the lowest point between Animal Shelter Road and Old <br />Martindale Road. The highest point in the area is the San Marcos Technology Park along <br />IH-35. <br /> <br />Locations <br /> <br />Sector Six occupies 5.5 square miles in northeast San Marcos and encompasses Blanco <br />Gardens, Two Rivers East, and Fairlawn neighborhoods. The sector is generally bound by <br />the San Marcos Technology Park on the north, the San Marcos Municipal Airport on the <br />east, the San Marcos River on the south, and by IH-35 on the west.
