<br />XII. COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT <br /> <br />All ofthe facilities proposed in this project has been identified in the on-going City of San <br />Marcos Parks and Open Space Master Plan. The Parks and Open Space Master Plan process <br />has consisted of four public hearings held at four different locations to represent the <br />geographic and political distribution of the City of San Marcos. During these four public <br />hearings citizen input was sought. At the completion of the four public hearings another <br />public hearing was hosted by the City of San Marcos Parks Advisory Board which also <br />provided input as to the desired facilities and improvements to the existing facilities, of <br />which all that are being proposed were included in the process. After these public hearings <br />to solicit public input, the Master Plan was prepared which included an inventory of all the <br />existing facilities and the proposed facilities. Attached as CERTIFICATION OF SUPPORT <br />are copies of the public meeting notices as well as copies of relevant portions of the Master <br />Plan reflecting the proposed areas. <br /> <br />Letters of support for this nomination from all types of citizens, interested individuals, civic <br />and public organizations, downtown business and community leaders can be provided upon <br />request. <br /> <br />XIII. The City of San <br />Marcos currently owns several of the parcels which front the Purgatory Creek. The City of <br />San Marcos currently also has drainage easements throughout the entire length of Purgatory <br />Creek and regularly maintains (mowing and brush clearing) the creek and its banks. Access <br />easements will be obtained from the adjacent landowners. <br /> <br />9 <br />
