<br />51. <br /> <br />RESOLUTION 1999-2.4JLR <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS <br />EXTENDING THE DURATION OF THE DEVELOPMENT ORDINANCE REVIEW <br />TASK FORCE; AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE <br /> <br />Whereas, the Development Ordinance Review Task Force (the Task Force) was established by the <br />City Council in Resolution 1998-243R in December, 1998 to examine existing ordinances and <br />processes related to growth and development, to determine whether these ordinances are properly <br />managing the quality of San Marcos' growth, with regard for public participation, the San Marcos <br />Horizons master plan, the possible application ofthe principles of "New Urbanism" and "Traditional <br />Neighborhood Development," the protection of San Marcos' natural resources, and the appropriate <br />role for manufactured housing; and <br /> <br />Whereas, the Task Force has worked since its formation toward the goals of 1) formulating basic <br />principles for growth for San Marcos that will guide sound growth by creating a regulatory <br />environment that encourages high-quality, responsible development while discouraging development <br />that is incompatible with the goals and character of the community, 2) reporting to the City Council <br />suggested changes to existing ordinances, policies or procedures that will improve San Marcos' <br />ability to properly manage growth and encourage high-quality, responsible development, and 3) <br />working with the City staff to define a timeline for any recommended ordinance or procedural <br />revisions, and reporting to the City Council a recommended timeline for such changes given available <br />staffing and financial resources; and <br /> <br />Whereas, the extension of the duration of the Task Force for a period of one year is necessary and <br />desirable to allow it to complete its work towards these goals; now therefore <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS. TEXAS: <br /> <br />PART 1. Part 3 of Resolution 1998-243R is amended as follows (underlining indicates added text; <br />overstrike indicates deleted text): <br /> <br />PART 3. Duration of the Task Force. <br /> <br />The Task Force shall convene until December 31. 2000 fot a period not to exceed 180 day s <br />after the appointment ofthc. Task Potce. At the end of the Task Force's work, it shall prepare <br />a report to the City Council regarding its findings. The Council may elect to extend the time <br />frame if presented with information from the Task Force regarding the need to continue any <br />phase of its work. <br /> <br />PART 2.
