Regular Meeting September 19, 2006 Page 2 <br />Mayor Narvaiz introduced for consideration adoption or direction to staff <br />on matters discussed in Executive Session. Mr. O?Leary stated the Council <br />provided direction regarding how to proceed with the appointees <br />evaluations, Convention and Visitors and Economic Development contracts. <br />Mayor Narvaiz lead the Pledge of Allegiance. Mayor Narvaiz awarded the <br />winners of the CAPCOG 9-1-1 2007 Calendar winners and Becky Stewart <br />provided a powerpoint to display the winning pictures. <br />Mayor Narvaiz introduced the Citizen Comment Period. No one signed up to <br />speak during the Citizen Comment Period. <br />Mayor Narvaiz introduced the Staff Report. Mr. O?Leary stated the Agenda <br />will be provided at the next meeting paperless. <br />Mayor Narvaiz introduced the City Council Report. 1) Kyle Morris stated <br />the scholarship endowment fund will be larger than $250,000, which was <br />originally planned. He encouraged the community to support this endowment <br />fund. 2) Kyle Morris provided the Council with a draft of the downtown area <br />banner. 3) Kyle Morris thanked John Thomaides for speaking to the Student <br />Government Association regarding the Commuter Rail project. 4) John <br />Thomaides stated he attended the CAPCO Workshop in San Marcos last week. <br />He stated they discussed the transportation needs for the next 25 years. 5) <br />Mr. Thomaides stated he provided an update on the Commuter Rail to the <br />Planning and Zoning Commission last week. 6) Mr. Thomaides stated he <br />attended the City?s ribbon cutting celebration for Craddock Street. He <br />thanked the City for making Craddock Street a pedestrian friendly road. 7) <br />Mr. Thomaides stated he attended the LBJ Dinner on Sunday, September 17, <br />2006. He thanked Mr. Mihalkanin for all his hard work on the LBJ Museum <br />project. 8) Ed Mihalkanin thanked Mayor Narvaiz and Mr. Thomaides for <br />attending the LBJ Dinner on Sunday night. He stated a LBJ Museum reception <br />will be held on December 6, 2006 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. He also <br />stated more than $500,000.00 went into the remodeling of the museum <br />building. 9) Mayor Narvaiz provided the Council with her written Council <br />Report. 10) Mayor Narvaiz stated the City Council will sponsor the Texas <br />Benefits Event on Saturday, October 7, 2006 from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at <br />the San Marcos High School Cafeteria. She stated originally the State was <br />only doing this in Austin. 11) Mayor Narvaiz stated at the next City <br />Council Meeting the Wi-Fi consultant will provide the Council with an <br />update on a Wireless Mesh Network for San Marcos IT and radio based <br />connection, 2-way broadband connection. <br />Mayor Narvaiz introduced for consideration approval of minutes of the <br />Regular Meeting held September 5, 2006, approval of minutes of the Special <br />Meeting held September 11, 2006, approval of one Ordinance on second <br />reading, adoption of four Ordinances on third and final reading, adoption <br />of fourteen Resolutions, approval of re-scheduling City Council Regular <br />Meeting dates, A.
