<br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2006-~R <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, APPROVING A MITIGATION PLAN <br />FOR HAYS COUNTY AND THE INCORPORATED AREAS IN <br />HAYS COUNTY; AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />RECITALS: <br /> <br />1. The Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000 and the Federal Emergency Management <br />Agency (FEMA) require the creation of a local Mitigation Action Plan (MAP) to ensure <br />consideration of continued federal funding in times of disasters. <br /> <br />2. On October 11, 2004, the City Council approved, by resolution, a draft MAP for Hays <br />County. Subsequent to that adoption, the MAP was submitted to FEMA for approval. FEMA <br />requested that certain technical corrections be made to the MAP before its final approval by <br />FEMA and adoption by the member entities. The technical corrections to the draft MAP have <br />been completed and finally accepted by FEMA. <br /> <br />3. The MAP for Hays County includes the following communities: Unincorporated <br />areas of Hays County, Village of Bear Creek, City of Buda, City of Dripping Springs, City of <br />Hays, City of Kyle, City of Mountain City, City of Niederwald, City of San Marcos, Township <br />of Uhland, Village of Wimberley, and the City of Woodcreek. <br /> <br />4. The Mitigation Action Plan also includes a floodplain mitigation portion to comply <br />with the Flood Mitigation Assistance Program (FMA) and FEMA'S Community Rating System <br />Program (CRS). <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, <br />TEXAS: <br /> <br />PART 1. The attached Mitigation Action Plan for Hays County and Incorporated Areas <br />of Hays County, Texas is approved. <br /> <br />PART 2.
