RESOLUTION 2012 - 71 R A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS AUTHORIZING THE SUBMISSION OF A GRANT APPLICATION TO THE UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY, FEDERAL EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCY ( "U.S. DHS - FEMA ") FOR AN ASSISTANCE TO FIREFIGHTERS GRANT IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $235,000.00 FOR THE PURCHASE OF FIRE DEPARTMENT TOOLS AND RESCUE EQUIPMENT; APPROVING THE CITY'S EXPENDITURE OF LOCAL MATCHING FUNDS IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $23,500.00; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER OR HIS DESIGNEE TO ACT ON THE CITY'S BEHALF WITH REGARD TO THE SUBMISSION OF THIS APPLICATION; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER OR HIS DESIGNEE TO ACCEPT THE GRANT, IF AWARDED, AND TO EXECUTE ALL CONTRACTS AND DOCUMENTS WITH THE U.S. DHS -FEMA AND OTHER PARTIES AS NECESSARY TO IMPLEMENT THE GRANT; AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. RECITALS: 1. Grant funding is available from the U.S. DHS —FEMA through the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program to provide financial assistance for uses related to firefighter life and safety needs. 2. The City wishes to request grant funding from the U.S. DHS -FEMA for the purchase OF Fire Department tools and rescue equipment. 3. The total cost for such items is estimated to be $235,000.00, and the City understands that it will be responsible for 10 percent of the total costs. RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS: PART 1. The City Manager or his designee is authorized to submit an application to the U.S. DHS -FEMA for funding through the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program for the purchase of Fire Department tools and rescue equipment in an amount not to exceed $235,000.00.
