RESOLUTION 2012 - 71 R <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN <br />MARCOS, TEXAS AUTHORIZING THE SUBMISSION OF A GRANT <br />APPLICATION TO THE UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF <br />HOMELAND SECURITY, FEDERAL EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT <br />AGENCY ( "U.S. DHS - FEMA ") FOR AN ASSISTANCE TO <br />FIREFIGHTERS GRANT IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED <br />$235,000.00 FOR THE PURCHASE OF FIRE DEPARTMENT TOOLS <br />AND RESCUE EQUIPMENT; APPROVING THE CITY'S <br />EXPENDITURE OF LOCAL MATCHING FUNDS IN AN AMOUNT NOT <br />TO EXCEED $23,500.00; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER OR HIS <br />DESIGNEE TO ACT ON THE CITY'S BEHALF WITH REGARD TO <br />THE SUBMISSION OF THIS APPLICATION; AUTHORIZING THE <br />CITY MANAGER OR HIS DESIGNEE TO ACCEPT THE GRANT, IF <br />AWARDED, AND TO EXECUTE ALL CONTRACTS AND DOCUMENTS <br />WITH THE U.S. DHS -FEMA AND OTHER PARTIES AS NECESSARY <br />TO IMPLEMENT THE GRANT; AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE <br />DATE. <br />RECITALS: <br />1. Grant funding is available from the U.S. DHS —FEMA through the Assistance to <br />Firefighters Grant Program to provide financial assistance for uses related to firefighter life and <br />safety needs. <br />2. The City wishes to request grant funding from the U.S. DHS -FEMA for the <br />purchase OF Fire Department tools and rescue equipment. <br />3. The total cost for such items is estimated to be $235,000.00, and the City <br />understands that it will be responsible for 10 percent of the total costs. <br />RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, <br />TEXAS: <br />PART 1. The City Manager or his designee is authorized to submit an application to <br />the U.S. DHS -FEMA for funding through the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program for the <br />purchase of Fire Department tools and rescue equipment in an amount not to exceed <br />$235,000.00. <br />PART 2. The City's expenditure of 10 percent (not to exceed $23,500.00) of the <br />total costs is approved. <br />PART 3.
